Along with six other cities in Ventura County, the city of Ventura has also adopted Hero PACE program. It is a joint public and private initiative to make the city eco friendly and save resources like water and electricity. It is a PACE financing program with a major effort to reverse the drought in the state of California. The Hero program encourages the residents of Ventura and other cities in Ventura County to adopt these energy efficient systems and conserve natural resources.
The major barrier for any homeowner in adopting these measures is the entry cost. This barrier has been conquered by Hero as they offer loans at low interest rates that can be easily paid through property taxes in the tenure of five to twenty years.
Hero PACE program has partnered with many local contractors to install various products in the house to achieve energy efficiency and water reduction in Ventura County. Weather resistant windows, doors, solar panels, solar water heaters, HVAC systems, roofing are some of the most popular products for Ventura homeowners. With increased awareness amongst homeowners in Ventura, the number of energy efficient homes will surely increase this year and in the coming years. Hero PACE program is in beginning phase in Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Santa Paula, Fillmore and Simi Valley. They have started accepting applications and processing loans for qualified buyers.
